The direct answer
Yes, in the ordinary sense of the word. InterviewMan is a real product from a real company, sold at published prices, with terms, a privacy policy, a cancellation policy, a support email, a named chief executive, and native apps you can download on five platforms. Money goes through Stripe on web and desktop and through Apple and Google in-app purchase on mobile, which means a real payment processor with a real dispute process sits between you and us.
What "legit" does not mean: it does not mean every claim in our marketing is provable. Our own pricing page uses the phrase "100% undetectable stealth mode," and that wording is stronger than anything we can demonstrate. It does not mean the product has no bugs, because it has at least one documented and unfixed one. It does not mean using it is allowed in your interview, which is a separate question we cover at the end. The origin story on that page is straightforward: she was laid off twice, once during the pandemic and once in an AI-driven workforce reduction, went through a long application grind, and built the thing she wanted during it. You are free to find that unconvincing. What matters for a trust question is narrower: there is a name, a country, an email that reaches a person, and a company that publishes terms it can be held to.
A large number of tools in this category publish none of that, and our own comparison pages note several competitors that hide pricing behind a signup wall or publish no stealth details at all.
How billing and refunds work
Prices are on the pricing page and there are three of them:
- Free trial, limited minutes, no credit card required.
- Pro Monthly at $30 per month.
- Pro Annual at $12 per month, billed once at $144 per year.
Verified students pay less on both paid tiers: 25% off the annual plan, which works out at $108 per year, and 10% off the monthly plan. The terms and the verification step are on the student discount page.
Cancelling is done in Settings, then Subscription, or by emailing contact@interviewman.com, or through the App Store or Google Play if that is where you bought it. Your access continues until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account drops back to free, limited access and your basic account data is kept so you can resubscribe later.
Here is the part that deserves your scepticism. The cancellation policy says partial refunds for unused months are "generally not provided, but exceptions may be made in certain circumstances," and annual subscribers who need to end early are told to contact support. There is no published 7-day or 14-day guarantee. Terms-of-service violations and fraud are excluded from refunds entirely.
That is weaker than the wording several competitors publish, and we would rather you know it before you pay than after. LinkJob AI's pricing page states a "money back guarantee on first-time purchases" on quarterly and yearly plans, which is a clearer promise than ours. It also states that "monthly plans are non-refundable" and that "renewals and plan upgrades are also non-refundable," which is stricter than ours on those cases. Read both policies rather than either vendor's summary.
The practical advice: use the free trial first, which needs no credit card. It exists specifically so you can find out whether the product works on your machine, in your language, with your microphone setup, before any money moves. If the app ever asks you to pay before you have used the trial, that is a bug worth reporting rather than an intended paywall.
What data InterviewMan collects, and what our privacy policy does not say
What the privacy policy does state: we collect account details such as name, email and login metadata; billing and subscription information; device and usage data including browser type, operating system and interaction events; and support and communication data you send us. It says information is retained "for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements." It describes sharing with service providers, with app store operators when you ask them for a refund, with legal authorities when required, and with a successor entity in an acquisition. It says that depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal information.
Now the honest gap. That policy does not currently spell out how live interview audio and the transcripts generated from it are handled: how long they are kept, whether they are used for anything beyond producing your answers, and which sub-processors touch them. It also does not name specific sub-processors or reference GDPR or CCPA by name. We are not going to fill that gap with a paragraph invented in a blog post, because a privacy commitment that only exists in marketing copy is worth nothing. If audio retention is a decision factor for you, ask contact@interviewman.com in writing before you subscribe and keep the reply.
What we can tell you about the architecture, because it is documented on our help pages, is that the app captures your device microphone rather than system audio, and that answers are generated server side, which is why the product cannot hide network traffic. Any tool that sends audio to an API has this property. A vendor claiming purely local processing is making a claim you should ask them to evidence, in the same way you should ask us to evidence ours.
The detection track record, and what "zero confirmed detections" does not mean
Our public number is zero confirmed detections reported to us across a user base of more than 570,000. Here is what that sentence actually contains, and what it does not.
What it means: nobody has sent us a verified case of an interviewer identifying the tool. Support tickets, Discord, review sites, we have looked and we have not received one.
What it does not mean: it is not a measurement. It is an absence of reports, and absence of reports is a weak signal, because a candidate who gets caught usually does not email the vendor to say so. It also does not cover people who never realised, or who quietly did not get the offer.

It is written up on our own shows-when-sharing page, the workaround right now is running Zoom 5.17.5 or older, and Windows is not affected. It is also flagged on the macOS tip in our basic checks.
We could have kept that quiet. Publishing it is more useful to you and it is the standard we would want a vendor to hold themselves to.
What the mechanism actually is: the desktop overlay is excluded from screen-capture APIs and hidden from the dock, taskbar and app switcher, and the two-device Stealth Mode removes the app from the interview machine's foreground entirely. Those are counter-measures against screen-level and process-level checks, which is what our undetectability page documents. They are not counter-measures against network monitoring, proctoring platform integrations, or a human being watching your eyes. LinkJob AI's three criticisms, answered point by point
LinkJob AI runs a page arguing InterviewMan is not legit, plus a review and an alternatives page that recommend their own product. They are a competitor. So are we. Here are their three main charges with the trade-off stated plainly.
1. "The tab-sharing mode cannot be undetectable during full screen sharing."
Correct. If you share your whole screen, everything on that screen goes into the stream, including a browser tab running our web client. Screen-capture exclusion is a property of the native desktop overlay, not of a web page, and no vendor can change that. The trade-off is that the browser client is the easiest thing to start with and the least safe thing to share full-screen with. Use the desktop app or the two-device Stealth Mode whenever the interviewer asks for a full-screen share.
2. "Two-device Stealth Mode makes you look like you are reading from a cheat sheet."
A fair ergonomic point, not a technical one. Looking at a second device does move your eyes, and an interviewer watching your webcam can notice. The trade-off runs the other way too: Stealth Mode is the mode that survives a proctor scanning running processes on the interview machine, because there is nothing to scan. That is why both modes exist.
Standard Mode keeps your gaze still and puts the app on the shared machine; Stealth Mode keeps the machine clean and moves your gaze. Pick based on what the interviewer can actually observe.
3. "InterviewMan does not disclose which AI models it uses."
Correct, and it is the criticism of theirs we like least because we cannot answer it. We do not publish our model stack. LinkJob AI does, per tier, on their pricing page. If knowing which model is answering matters to you, that is a genuine advantage for them and you should weigh it.
One more of their claims is worth checking rather than accepting. Their legitimacy page states that Reddit posts confirm our tool is detected on HackerRank and CoderPad, without linking the posts, so there is nothing for you or for us to check.
On ratings, go to the source instead of to either vendor's summary of it. Google Play shows us at 4.9 from 298 reviews with more than 10,000 downloads, and the App Store at 4.9 from 127 ratings, both read on September 18, 2026. Red flags to check for any AI interview tool, including this one
Run this list against every vendor in the category. We have marked how InterviewMan scores so you can see it is not a trick list built to flatter us.
- Is there a named human running the company? Ours: yes, on the about page.
- Are prices published without a signup wall? Ours: yes, on the pricing page.
- Is there a published refund window, in writing, before you pay? Ours: no. This is our weakest answer.
- Does the privacy policy say what happens to interview audio and transcripts? Ours: no, it does not currently spell that out. Second weakest answer.
- Can you try it without a card? Ours: yes, the free trial.
- Does the vendor publish its known bugs? Ours: yes, including the macOS Zoom visibility issue.
- Does the vendor claim 100 percent undetectability? Our pricing page uses that phrase. Treat it as marketing wherever you see it, including here.
- Is the review sample big enough to mean anything, or is it a handful of ratings clustered in a few weeks? Ours: 298 ratings on Google Play and 128 on the App Store, both listings at 4.9 when we read them on September 18, 2026. Look for a sample that is large and spread over time rather than a short burst of near-identical ratings.
- Does the vendor name its AI models? Ours: no. Some competitors do.
- Is there a real support channel that answers? Ours: contact@interviewman.com and a Discord community. Test it with a question before you subscribe, on any vendor.
A tool that fails one or two of these is normal. A tool that fails most of them, especially the named-human, published-price and try-before-you-pay ones, is where you should walk away.

- Our own reviews page, which collects the quotes we publish from those listings and from our Discord community. We wrote none of them, but we chose which ones to show, so read the stores too.
- Reddit search results for InterviewMan. We could not fetch Reddit programmatically for this article so we will not quote it. Read it with the standard filter: a comment with a platform name, a date and a screenshot is worth something, a generic enthusiastic comment from a new account is worth nothing, and this applies to comments praising us as much as to comments attacking us.
- Competitor-run review pages, including LinkJob AI's. They are not neutral, but they will surface criticisms we would not write about ourselves, and a criticism from an interested party can still be true. Several of theirs are.
Is using InterviewMan allowed?
This is the question people usually mean underneath "is it legit." Legitimacy of the company and permission to use it in a given interview are separate things, and only one of them is ours to answer.
Policies now vary widely. Some employers explicitly invite AI use in technical rounds, some ban it and treat a violation as grounds for withdrawing an offer, and many say nothing at all. We keep a running summary at which companies allow or ban AI in interviews. Our terms of service put responsibility for complying with the rules of any interview you take on you, not on us, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The tool is remote-only in any case: it does not apply to in-person interviews, and it cannot help inside a locked-down proctored exam on a machine you do not control.
