Interview Copilot Tools Explained

एक दोस्त को पिछले October FAANG offer मिला और dinner पर बताया कि हर round में interview copilot चलाया। लगा ChatGPT tab खुला रखा होगा Zoom के बगल में, जो लोग 2024 में करते थे और मुश्किल से काम करता था। Laptop खोला और दिखाया। Zoom के ऊपर एक overlay बैठा था real time में suggested answers scroll हो रहे थे। Point prove करने के लिए screen-share किया, overlay गायब हो गया। Shared view से पूरी तरह गायब। Interviewer की side पर बस Zoom call दिखती जबकि दोस्त की side पर full text suggestions हर question के साथ update हो रहे।

घर जाकर खुद test करना शुरू किया। पांच महीनों में आठ tools। ये article मिले findings के बारे में है।

Copilot क्या करता है

Tool live video call के दौरान चलता है। Microphone से interviewer की बात पकड़ता है, speech to text convert करता है, text को generation system को भेजता है, और suggested answer ऐसी जगह दिखाता है जहां पढ़ सको। Interviewer नहीं देख सकता। ये पूरा loop एक से आठ seconds लेता है depending on कौन सा product चला रहे हो।

नाम GitHub Copilot से उधार है -- same idea, काम तुम कर रहे हो लेकिन software उन parts को handle करता है जो pressure में trip करते हैं। जो लोग ठीक से use करते हैं suggestion पर glance करते हैं, जो help करे वो लेते हैं, और बाकी अपने शब्दों में बोलते हैं। जो लोग text word for word पढ़ते हैं वो off लगते हैं और पकड़े जाते हैं। एक mock session में एक candidate को suggestion word for word पढ़ते देखा और तुरंत obvious था।

ये category late 2023 से पहले exist नहीं करती थी। Models बहुत slow थे। जब तक screen पर text आता candidate दस seconds dead silence में बैठ चुका होता और interviewer पहले से notes लिख रहा होता। Mid-2024 के आसपास speed इतनी improve हुई कि tool question transcribe करके response बना सके silence weird होने से पहले। उसी crossing point पर एक दर्जन से ज़्यादा companies market में आ गईं।

कैसे बने होते हैं

हर tool जो test किया same four-step pattern follow करता था। Software call से audio grab करता है -- system audio, mic, या दोनों। Speech engine उसे text में बदलता है। Text generation system को जाता है जो question plus जो user पहले से feed कर चुका है -- usually resume या job description -- use करके response बनाता है। Response overlay window पर आता है जो सिर्फ user देख सकता है।

वो overlay window hard part है। Chrome extensions के तौर पर बने tools quickly ship होते हैं लेकिन किसी भी screen share या proctoring scan में दिख जाते हैं। Native desktop apps के तौर पर बने tools OS के deeper level पर जा सकते हैं, dock icons, taskbar entries, process lists, और recording software से छिपते हैं। Practice Zoom call में एक-एक चलाया। Extension shared screen में visible था। Desktop app कहीं नहीं था -- dock में नहीं, Activity Monitor में नहीं, screen recording में नहीं, WebRTC leak test में नहीं। दोनों का gap छोटा नहीं था।

कुछ tools screen पर जो है वो भी capture करते हैं। अगर interviewer HackerRank पर coding problem share करे, copilot audio के साथ-साथ वो image भी पढ़ता है। Coding rounds में जहां problem screen पर बैठी रहती है और बोली नहीं जाती, वो feature matter करता है।

अच्छे को बुरे से क्या अलग करता है

आठ tools के बाद, strong opinions हैं क्या matter करता है।

Speed पहले आती है। Copilot जो suggestion दिखाने में आठ seconds ले behavioral round में dead weight है जहां interviewer तीन या चार seconds में बोलना शुरू करने की उम्मीद रखता है। जो products सबसे अच्छे लगे वो दो seconds से कम में text दिखाते हैं। पांच seconds से ज़्यादा और silence suspicious लगने लगता है चाहे कितने भी composed दिखने की कोशिश करो।

Details सही होना दूसरे नंबर पर आता है। एक tool ने behavioral answer generate किया जिसमें resume से project reference किया लेकिन numbers बढ़ा दिए -- बोला "managed a team of twelve" जबकि resume में "worked with a team of four" था। ऐसी error silence से भी बुरी है क्योंकि interviewer के सामने resume पड़ा है और दस seconds में झूठ पकड़ सकता है। Career के बारे में facts invent करने वाला copilot न होने से भी बुरा है।

Stealth तीसरे नंबर पर आती है और stakes सबसे ज़्यादा यहां हैं। Screen-shared Zoom session में InterviewMan test किया। Dock, Activity Monitor, recording file, और WebRTC leak test check किया। कहीं नहीं मिला। Tool में 20 से ज़्यादा detection countermeasures हैं। 57,000 users और 257 reviews से 4.8-star average में, एक भी confirmed detection case नहीं मिला। Compare करो Cluely से जहां $20 महीना base plan में zero stealth है और $75 महीना plan में undetectability upgrade के तौर पर आती है। या Parakeet AI, जो shared screen में पूरी तरह visible है।

Round coverage चौथे नंबर पर आती है। Copilot जो सिर्फ coding handle करे specialty product है, full sense में copilot नहीं। जो tools ये label earn करती हैं वो behavioral, technical, coding, और system design -- standard engineering loop का हर round handle करती हैं।

Prices कैसे दिखते हैं

Market तीन bands में sort हो चुका है।

High end: Final Round AI $148 महीना या $81 semi-annually। Interview Coder 2.0 $299 महीना, सिर्फ coding। दोनों के big marketing budgets हैं। दोनों assume करते हैं buyer के पास पैसे जलाने हैं या company दे रही है।

Middle: LockedIn AI $54.99 महीना। Sensei AI $89 monthly या annual पर करीब $24। Linkjob AI $99.99 monthly या $24.99 annually। LockedIn sessions नब्बे मिनट पर cap करता है। Sensei Chrome-only चलता है, जो desktop screen share में stealth limit करता है।

Try करना चाहिए या नहीं

ये pretend नहीं करूंगा कि कोई gray area नहीं। Companies interviews बनाती हैं candidates को बिना help test करने के लिए, और copilot उस test को ऐसे बदलता है जो interviewer देख नहीं पाता। हर आदमी को ये खुद weigh करना है।

जो बोलूंगा वो ये कि market पहले ही vote कर चुका है। सिर्फ मैंने जो आठ tools test कीं उनका combined user count 150,000 से ज़्यादा है। Ethics पर तुम्हारी position जो भी हो, ये category जाने वाली नहीं है। अगर try करने का decide करो, ऐसा product चुनो जो चारों round types cover करे ऐसी price पर जो money stress add न करे search में जिसमें पहले से काफ़ी है। Real में use करने से पहले mock session में चलाओ। Suggestions को starting point मानो, script नहीं। और stealth खुद पहले test करो, क्योंकि recorded call पर पकड़े जाने की cost किसी भी monthly fee से ज़्यादा है।
