Amazon Software Engineer Interview: কী আশা করবে + AI Tools

Overview

Amazon তাদের SDE interview পাঁচটা stage-এ চালায়: resume screen, recruiter call বা online assessment, technical phone screen, চার থেকে পাঁচ round-এর onsite loop, আর offer negotiation। process-এ চার থেকে আট সপ্তাহ লাগে। Amazon-কে Google আর Meta থেকে আলাদা করে behavioral weight। borderline technical performance-ও offer আনতে পারে behavioral answer strong থাকলে। strong coder-ও reject হতে পারে behavioral round red flag তুললে। এই article প্রতিটা stage, question type, Bar Raiser role, আর AI tool কোথায় fit করে সেটা cover করে।

Online Assessment আর Phone Screen

mid-level আর senior engineer যাদের big tech background আছে তারা প্রায়ই online assessment পুরোটা skip করে। যখন required হয়, timed HackerRank test-এ দুটো coding problem easy থেকে medium difficulty-তে plus multiple-choice system design question থাকে। একটা 50-question workstyle section-ও আছে Likert scale-এ যেটা answer-কে Amazon-এর LP framework-এ map করে।

phone screen 30 থেকে 40 মিনিট চলে Livecode-এ। syntax highlighting on কিন্তু code execution off। আমার graph traversal problem এসেছিলো আর follow-up enough information ছাড়া decision নেওয়ার বিষয়ে। Amazon phone screen-এর প্রায় অর্ধেকে coding problem-এর পাশাপাশি অন্তত একটা LP question থাকে।

Onsite আর Bar Raiser

onsite-এ অন্তত একটা behavioral round, তিনটা coding round, একটা system design round, আর hiring manager session থাকে। coding problem medium difficulty-তে থাকে। Amazon LeetCode hard থেকে দূরে থাকে। common topic হলো binary search, stack আর queue, greedy algorithm, BFS আর DFS, আর sliding window। dynamic programming Google-এর তুলনায় কম আসে। Amazon interviewer-রা brute force দিয়ে কাজ করা দেখার চেয়ে optimal answer-এর দিকে speed-এ weight দেয়।

Bar Raiser loop-এর সবচেয়ে important মানুষ। Bar Raiser-রা Amazon-এর interviewer hierarchy-র top-এ থাকা senior employee যারা company জুড়ে hiring calibrate করতে extensively train করেছে। তারা এক বা দুটো round-এ বসে আর veto power carry করে। debrief-এ Bar Raiser-এর opinion typically final call drive করে। আমি decision ফেরত আসার আগে জানতামই না কোন interviewer Bar Raiser।

প্রতিটা Round-এ LP Question

Amazon-এর 16টা Leadership Principle আছে। interviewer-রা যেকোনো round-এ যেকোনো সময় LP question ফেলতে পারে। coding, system design, hiring manager, সব fair game। কোন principle fit করছে বুঝতে না পারলে "Customer Obsession" default। behavioral round পাঁচটা area-তে deeper যায়: technical problem-solving, failure থেকে learning, business execution, interpersonal conflict, আর ambiguity handle করা।

work history থেকে আটটা story prepare করেছিলাম আর প্রতিটা দুই-তিনটা LP-তে map করেছিলাম। সেটা চারটা round জুড়ে প্রতিটা behavioral question cover করেছিলো। result-এ specific number matter করে। "I reduced latency" কাজে আসে না। "I cut P99 latency from 340ms to 120ms by redesigning the caching layer" interviewer-কে লেখার মতো কিছু দেয়। Amazon STAR-formatted answer চায় আর response hypothetical হলেই redirect করে।

AI Tools কীভাবে Fit করে

Amazon-এর coding Livecode-এ চলে execution ছাড়া। behavioral round-এ real time-এ story recall করে সঠিক LP-তে match করতে হয়। system design practical AWS-oriented question-এর দিকে lean করে। ওই mix মানে coding-only tool Amazon-এর সবচেয়ে বেশি weight দেওয়া round-গুলোতে exposed রেখে যায়।

দুটো mock round আর দুটো real-এ InterviewMan ব্যবহার করেছি। audio transcription behavioral question-এ সবচেয়ে বেশি help করেছে। interviewer যখন দুই মিনিট আগে reference করা metric নিয়ে জিজ্ঞেস করলো, transcript exact figure recall করতে help করলো estimate করার বদলে। coding-এ Livecode screen analyze করে constraint পড়া শেষ করার আগেই BFS approach flag করলো।

InterviewMan Amazon Chime আর HackerRank-এ কাজ করে, যেটা video call আর OA stage দুটোই cover করে। দুটোতেই dock, process list, আর screen recording check করেছি। কিছু পাওয়া যায়নি। tool-টা annual plan-এ মাসে $12 কোনো session limit ছাড়া। Amazon loop কয়েক সপ্তাহ ধরে পাঁচটা round-এ stretch করে। behavioral, coding, আর system design-এ per-session cap ছাড়া coverage থাকলে credit-এর বদলে answer-এ focus থাকে।

math করেছি। InterviewMan বছরে $144 versus Interview Coder মাসে $299, 25x price difference। আর Interview Coder শুধু coding handle করে, যেটা arguably Amazon-এর loop-এর least unique part। behavioral আর LP question-ই Amazon interview hard করে, আর Interview Coder ওগুলোর জন্য কিছুই offer করে না।

আমি কিসে Focus করতাম

LeetCode open করার আগে behavioral prep শুরু করো। বেশিরভাগ candidate উল্টো করে আর coding round-এ "tell me about a time you disagreed with your manager" আসলে freeze হয়ে যায়। Amazon ওটা জিজ্ঞেস করবে। প্রতিটা story অন্তত দুটো LP-তে map করো, result-এ number রাখো, আর answer দুই মিনিটের মধ্যে রাখো।

system design-এর জন্য AWS service surface level-এ শেখো। Amazon interviewer তাদের team-এর build করা system নিয়ে জিজ্ঞেস করে, আর ওই system AWS-এ চলে। SQS আর SNS-এর মধ্যে gap জানা বা কখন DynamoDB নেবে Aurora-র বদলে সেটা signal করে তুমি তাদের environment বোঝো।

coding-এর জন্য medium-এ focus করো আর speed-এর জন্য practice করো। Amazon hard জিজ্ঞেস করে না। 15 মিনিটে optimal reach করা এখানে 40 মিনিটে hard solve করার চেয়ে বেশি matter করে। নিজেকে time করো আর যেসব problem-এ consistently 20 মিনিটের বেশি লাগে সেগুলো drop করো।
